When you attach roles to a form question, every asset uploaded through that question is tagged with those roles the moment the form is submitted. No manual tagging needed.
Attach roles to a question
In the form builder, select a file upload, font, or color question to open its settings. Look for the Roles to apply field and choose one or more roles from your workspace.
- For file upload, file select, and font questions, every submitted file receives all selected roles.
- For color questions with multiple roles selected, roles are assigned positionally — the first color swatch gets the first role, additional swatches get the last role. This makes it easy to map a color question to
primary-colorandsecondary-colorin one step.
Why this matters
Roles applied at submission time are what allow Baseline to automatically populate site templates. If a client submits a brand onboarding form, the uploaded logo lands in the primary-logo role, the brand colors in primary-color and secondary-color, and the heading font in heading-font. When the resulting site is created, blocks that reference those roles already have the right assets in them.
Roles and the target board
Assets are still uploaded to the board you configured on the form — roles are applied in addition to that, not instead of it. You can also assign multiple roles to the same question if the asset serves more than one purpose.
